TAL named one of Australia's Best Places to Work

Media Release -

TAL has won the workplace culture Belonging Award in the Australian Financial Review's BOSS 2026 Best Places to Work.

The category is awarded to an organisation that “creates a culture of inclusion, empathy and connection where every person feels valued and safe to contribute”.

Paola Molino, General Manager, People & Culture, said TAL's strong culture was built and defined by its people, who shared a collective sense of care, purpose and partnership.

“We support our customers and their families through loss, illness and injury. That's quite unique. People who are drawn to TAL are looking to work somewhere their contribution matters.”

“What connects our people — from actuaries and claims teams to doctors and product specialists — is a shared connection to purpose. Everyone is working to create better experiences and outcomes for our customers. We need a range of perspectives shared to do that well.”

Ms Molino said diversity was not a concept but a genuine way of working where feedback matters and every person contributes.

“At TAL we’ve focused on creating an environment where all our people feel safe to speak up and to contribute in different ways. We know this leads to better decisions, stronger collaboration, and better outcomes for our customers.”

“Diversity and inclusion is built by our people from the ground up and is part of who we are and what we do.”

Ranking in the top 25 per cent globally for diversity1, TAL’s workplace diversity strategy focuses on accessibility, education and accountability and is led by around 100 employees across dedicated network groups, who shape priorities.

TAL's deliberate approach to employee listening gives leaders real-time feedback that they act on, via a bi-monthly people survey with over 80 per cent participation rate.

“The executive alone doesn’t set initiatives or decide what's important. We go out to our people to understand what's important for them. If our people have ideas on what we could do differently, we take that and implement it,” Ms Molino said.

Among the suite of initiatives shaped directly by employees are: Wellbeing Leave; a Cultural and Personal Holiday Swap for days of personal significance; and a DigiTAL program that has lifted digital confidence scores to 8.2 out of 10 and doubled LinkedIn Learning activations since January 2025.
