Your health is a priority for us, and we’re committed to supporting you to get you back to your best possible state of health.

A personalised approach to your recovery

Our Claims and Health Teams tailor their approach to your individual needs to ensure you get the support you need during your recovery. They can work alongside your medical team, carer or employer to make things easier for you, and when you’re ready, they can connect you with the support services relevant to your individual health needs and return to work goals. Because just like no two lives are the same, no two claims are.

We take your health seriously. Suffering an illness or injury is challenging at the best of times, but when you’re unable to work you’re not only physically impacted but emotionally and financially impacted too. That’s why, if you need to make a claim, we support you to take a holistic approach to your health, to help ensure you receive the physical, mental and financial support that’s right for you.

Through TAL Health, we offer a range of support services that are:

  • completely optional and won’t impact your claim,
  • provided at no additional cost to you,
  • hand-picked by our team of health experts,
  • evidence-based and medically aligned, and
  • focused on achieving your health and return to work goals.

Cancer support

The symptoms and side effects of cancer on the body are wide and varied and the support a person needs can be complex. Through our partner, Valion Health, we can make individualised cancer care programs available through an accredited team of allied health professionals, designed to provide support, advice, mental health coaching and education if you’re are undergoing cancer treatment.

Exercise for physical health

Recovering from an illness an injury or illness can be physically strenuous on your body. Under the guidance of a Physiotherapist or Exercise Physiologist, a work conditioning program focuses on preparing your body to physically be able complete the tasks you are required to at work and at home. We partner with a variety of specialists, including Exphys, Guardian Exercise and Specialised Health, who will work with you to design a personalised program to help you regain your physical health.

Fatigue management

Fatigue after a traumatic illness or injury can be common. While symptoms may vary from person to person there are many things that can be done to help decrease the effects and positively impact your health and wellbeing. With coaching from an Exercise Physiologist through our partners Exphys and Specialised Health, you can learn to better understand the signs and impacts of fatigue. They can tailor a program to help you manage and improve your energy levels by safely introducing activity and exercise into your everyday life, and, depending on your needs, they may also provide guidance regarding sleep hygiene and basic nutrition.

Health coaching

Partnering with IPAR, we can make available a professionally tailored health coaching program Positivium™. This evidence-based program focuses on addressing areas that are likely to be barrier to optimal recovery. With a strong emphasis on self-management, helping you with living with a health condition, and how to move forward after an injury or illness.

Pain management

Chronic and ongoing pain can be physically and emotionally exhausting, taking an enormous toll on your health and well-being. Through our partner Beyond Pain we can provide you with access to a tailored program with an experienced therapist suited to your symptoms and lifestyle to arm you with the tools to manage pain during your recovery.

Supporting your mental health
Exercise for mental health

The therapeutic benefits of exercise is well researched in assisting with management and recovery of mental health conditions and can help improve depressive symptoms, mood, alertness, concentration and sleep patterns. Through our partners Exphys, Guardian Exercise and Specialised Health we provide access to exercise programs developed by Physiotherapists or Exercise Physiologists that aim to complement traditional mental health treatments.

Grief support

Experiencing grief can be extremely difficult and potentially overwhelming at times. To help during this difficult time, we’ve partnered with Assure Programs to provide immediate family members of a loved one who has become terminally ill or passed away, and customers who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness with access to a dedicated grief support service.

Mental health coaching

The Mindstep™ program, provided by our partner Remedy, supports you with managing depression or anxiety through mental health coaching to complement the care you receive from your GP, psychologist or psychiatrist. Delivered over the phone by trained mental health coaches, the program uses evidence-based techniques to help improve your mental health and wellbeing.

Trauma recovery

Designed specifically for people who have been exposed to a traumatic event, the Positivum™ program aims to educate and improve your understanding of trauma and post-trauma reactions and empower you to improve function and ultimately remain in, or return to, productive work.

As a business owner, suffering an injury or illness can have a detrimental impact on your business. A business coach can assist in reviewing your business and provide guidance around ways to keep your business profitable until you’re able to return to performing your role.

Career coaching

When you’re ready to go back to work, a career coach can help you return to your previous role, find a new role, or explore the amount and level of work you can do now. Individually focused on you and your specific requirements, a career coach will work closely with you to help navigate your future career path and what may suit you best.

Return to work programs

Where appropriate, we can play an active role in supporting your return to work. Our partnered providers will work with you, your employer and your medical team to develop a personalised plan to help you safely return to the workforce.

Work conditioning programs

We partner with a variety of specialists, including Exphys, Guardian Exercise and Specialised Health, who will work with you to design a personalised program, focusing on work simulation activities to help you to get back to work.

Workplace assessment

When preparing to return to work, an on-site workplace assessment undertaken by an Occupational Rehabilitation Provider can help to understand your work environment, job tasks, functional and cognitive requirements. The assessment will help detail any restrictions or changes that need to be implemented by your employer to ensure a safe return to work.
