TAL launches adviser-focused health insurance offering with nib

2018 -

TAL, a leading Australian life insurance specialist, today announced the launch of a TAL health insurance offering through its partnership with nib, one of Australia’s leading health insurers.

Initially offered through a select group of financial advisers, the TAL health insurance offering will enable advisers to refer customers to the TAL health insurance team at nib to review their health insurance needs. Customers referred by their adviser will receive a 5% discount on their TAL health insurance cover. In addition, customers who purchase a combined hospital and extras policy prior to 31 January may also be eligible to receive $200 off their premiums.

TAL Chief Operating Officer, Justin Delaney, said TAL’s health insurance offering would enable TAL to better support Australians with their health, offer improved customer value, and support TAL’s adviser partners to deepen their customer relationships.

“Although we are known for life insurance at TAL, health has always been at the heart of everything we do. Over time, we believe that connecting health insurance and life insurance will enable us to better support Australians in preventative health and streamline our customers’ cover.

“TAL is passionate about enabling advisers to support the health and wellbeing of their customers. While advisers already play a vital role in protecting their customers’ financial outcomes, they are also well placed to start new conversations about reviewing their customers’ health insurance needs. Many of us often don’t review our cover regularly, and with this offering we have created a very simple way for advisers to help customers assess whether they have the right cover for their needs, while offering a discount when referred by their adviser,” he said.

nib Group Executive, Australian Residents Health Insurance, Rhod McKensey, said nib was delighted to be expanding its strategic distribution partnership with TAL through the launch of TAL-branded health insurance products.

“It’s a great extension of our successful life insurance referral partnership with TAL and we believe the opportunities created by the new alliance are a natural fit that allow TAL to leverage our expertise and skills,” Mr McKensey said.

“We’re excited to continue to build our very strong health insurance whitelabelling capability through the addition of TAL to our existing group of highly valued partners who share our passion for great customer service,” he added.

TAL health insurance was developed based on insights from TAL’s customers, financial advisers and key market insights. The health insurance offering will continue to evolve based on ongoing customer and adviser feedback.
